Her journey into the medical field was inspired by a combination of early interests in science, biology, and a heartfelt desire to serve her community. This blend of passion and purpose has been the foundation of her career, driving her to excel in the complex and fascinating field of Nephrology.
Dr Dudley's academic credentials are impressive. She completed her high school education at Bergvliet High School, excelling in all subjects, particularly in the sciences. She then pursued her medical degree at the University of Cape Town, where she graduated with an MBChB in 2010. Her commitment to further specialization in Nephrology led her to complete her Master of Medicine (MMed) in 2019, her training as a specialist physician (FCP) and subsequently, her Fellowship in Nephrology at the same institution.
Throughout her career, Dr Dudley has been deeply involved in addressing some of the most pressing health issues facing South Africa today, including chronic kidney disease and hypertension. Her work in state hospitals, witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by patients with chronic kidney failure, has fuelled her dedication to early management and treatment of these conditions.
Dr Dudley's professional experience is extensive and varied. She began her career as an intern at Helen Joseph Hospital and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, followed by a community service year at Paarl Hospital. Her journey continued as a Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, before specializing further as a Medical Registrar in Internal Medicine at Groote Schuur Hospital. Here, she not only honed her clinical skills but also took on leadership roles, including serving as Chief Registrar and Consultant in Internal Medicine.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Dudley is committed to academic excellence and research. She has contributed to the medical literature and taken an active role in the training and development of undergraduate and postgraduate students, sharing her knowledge and expertise to nurture the next generation of medical professionals. Her ongoing research projects and participation in conferences underscore her dedication to advancing the field of Nephrology and Hypertension.
Outside of her professional life, Dr Dudley is a devoted wife and mother to a daughter. She enjoys traveling, immersing herself in non-fiction books, nature walks, and listening to music, which provide her with a well-rounded and balanced life.
